Keeping Cool in Summer

Every winter we moan about the wind and the rain and, after months of cold weather and dull skies, we can barely contain our excitement at the prospect of summer. And yet, once summer hits full stride, most of us are also quite happy to moan about just how stiflingly warm it is.

So are we just programmed to moan no matter what happens? Perhaps some of us are; however, the majority of us will simply be more comfortable in a heat that our country very rarely sees. However, this doesn’t mean that we have to be permanently grumbling. Now that summer is here, there are plenty of things we can do to stay cool and be praying that the warm weather stays rather than wishing for perpetual autumn.

Firstly, installing ceiling fans can make a great deal of difference. Not only are ceiling fans the perfect way to keep houses cool during the hot weather, making even the most humid of days not just bearable, but actually enjoyable, but they are also extremely attractive and far more efficient than air conditioning will be. As a compliment to underfloor heating, such fans are likely to ensure that your house is comfortable all year round. Underfloor heating conversely is a far more efficient way to heat the house than traditional radiators and in turn in both winter and summer your house can be totally comfortable without ever feeling too hot or cold.

Next, a good long look at your wardrobe can often show that the majority of us don’t actually have that many clothes that are suitable for the summer. Whilst we may have some shorts and a few bikinis, actually having clothes that are light and baggy and will in turn protect from the sun, preserve our modesty and look good in many situations is something that few of us actually think about.

And if all else fails, a cool shower should always serve to bring you back to the perfect temperature.
